NSSCC is the country’s premier secondary schools student culinary competition. Teams of two culinary year 12/13 students go head-to-head in a live regional kitchen cook off to produce four covers of entrée and main meals in just 90 minutes. Students will be scored across a number of areas including food preparation, hygiene, presentation, taste and use of New Zealand produced vegetables and chicken. Each winner then represents their region at the National Final.

2016 NSSCC Final Winners
St John's College
Every confirmed entry in the regional events will receive a $50 voucher from Bidfood to kick start their training.
Each Regional winning school will receive a $500 Bidfood voucher and travel assistance to help train and attend the national final. They will also receive a $200 Southern Hospitality voucher for hospitality competitions. The regional winning team (students) will represent their region at the National Final, MIT, Auckland on Tuesday 29th August 2017 and will receive a fabulous gift pack with a chef’s jacket for the final.
In addition All Regional winners whom compete in Auckland at the National final will attend an Awards dinner, stay over night and enjoy the New Zealand Culinary Journey trip visiting local growers, industry businesses and a Masterclass.
Each National Winning Student will receive a gift pack each from our fantastic sponsors valued at over $500 each
The Winning School will receive:
- $1,000 voucher from Bidfood
- $450 Sous Vide Machine
- E32D4 Blue Seal Turbofan Oven and Stand from Moffat New Zealand worth $7,000.
We will also be awarding 2 x $2,000 Scholarships at the national final for any competitor who will be embarking on their Tertiary Studies at a City & Guilds Centre of their choice in 2018
Congratulations to this last year's winners - St John's College, who took out the NSSCC Grand Final, winning a $2,000 scholarship each, Samsung Mini each, $1,000 Bidvest credit for the school, Moffat Blueseal Gas Hob & Oven, Books, Oh... and a trip to Sydney, Australia! They will head to Sydney Australia on a Culinary Adventure of a life time.
